Home / Conditions We Treat / ACL Tear
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a key stabiliser of the knee. An ACL tear is a common sports injury that can cause the knee to give way.
The ACL connects the thigh bone to the shin bone and controls forward movement and rotation of the knee. It is often injured during sudden stops, twists or awkward landings.
A torn ACL usually does not heal on its own. Active people who need a stable knee often benefit from arthroscopic ACL reconstruction.
Treatment is tailored to your diagnosis, symptoms, activity level and goals.
